Below are actual comments or letters written by patients to our office:

“Today, I woke up at 5:30, drove to Surfside and watched the sunrise. I fished and crabbed with friends until noon. I was constantly moving and bending and having such a great time.

In the past, this fun outing would have wiped me out and I would have gone home to bed exhausted, achy and quite happy that I had such a fun morning. Life is good.

But that is not how today ended. After spending the morning fishing, I went home and finished cleaning out my pantry. I boxed all the gluten filled foods and donated them. Then I took my mom to a garden center and we bought plants. Then I went home and planted flowers, weeded a flower bed, scrubbed the deck and outdoor kitchen. I prepared a wonderful meal for my husband, and now … only now… I’m starting to feel tired. Is this what a healthy person feels like? I think so!

Thanks, Dr. Osborne. I am a new person living a richer life! Thank you for teaching me how to live healthy. The exercises, diet, supplements, chiropractic adjustments, and other recommendations have impacted me and changed my life in so many ways I don’t know what to expect next. And I am in the beginning of my journey. So much improvement in less than two months. It is amazing and I know I am going to feel even better soon. Thanks again.”

Six years ago, I was diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus (pre-cancer cells of the esophagus). I have been on medication since then and have testing performed every two years to make sure it hasn’t developed into cancer. Two years ago I developed IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome – “Colitis”) and am on medication for that also. (Go Figure!)
Tired of taking prescription medication, I knew it was time to be my own advocate. WALLA! The Focus Magazine arrived. The first article I read was on Irritable Bowel Syndrome by none other than Dr. Osborne.
I made my appointment. Dr. Osborne knew immediately I had Gluten Sensitivity, Food Allergies and Vitamin deficiencies – never once did any of these cross my mind. After starting on his program, in three weeks I was off the medication for IBS and have had no signs of it since. I have lost weight and feel great. I am currently coming off the Acid Reflux medication and feel confident that my next diagnosis will be “No signs of Barretts present”.

“Dr Osborne – wanted to let you know about some feedback from a friend I referred to see you. Actually it was for her son. She couldn’t thank me enough – he’s completely better (of course). After months and months of seeing allergists and spending thousands on treatments that didn’t work she asked me for some advice and i referred her to you. You diagnosed him quickly and treated him naturally and he’s healthier and happier than he’s ever been. Just wanted to pass along the good report! Keep up the great work!

Little did I know the one place I never figured to turn to was the place that was going to heal me.  I spent several years suffering from nausea, acid reflux, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, light-headedness, indigestion, depression, Esophagitis, Gastritis, and sadly the list does not end there.  It seemed like every day my problems were getting worse.  I took several tests, visited specialists, used an abundance of medication, and spent thousands of dollars, yet all my questions remained unanswered.  Needless to say, I began losing hope.

For over twelve years, I dedicated my life to competitive sports such as swimming, basketball, track, and cross country.  My passion kept me going, but my health problems were significantly hindering my accomplishments.  I constantly had to stop from nausea or shortness of breath.  Many days I had to force myself to participate because I was so exhausted.  It broke my heart to not be able to reach my goals because of my sickness.

That all ended once I walked into Dr. Osborne’s office. He made me feel confident with his obvious passion to heal people.  I knew he was going to be able to help me. What makes his treatment so unique is the way he uses natural alternatives to a better health.  After a few minutes of speaking with Dr. Osborne, he was sure that I was Gluten Sensitive and had nutritional deficiencies.

gardeningHis predictions were confirmed after I took two simple tests.  Honestly, I did not even know what Gluten Sensitivity was until he explained it to me thoroughly. I was absolutely amazed that after years of searching for answers, he solved them in minutes. Surprisingly, a few prescribed vitamins and a change in diet were all I needed to be healthy again.

After a few months of taking my vitamins and eating a gluten free diet, I feel better than I have ever felt before.  Almost all of my symptoms have diminished.  I am able to be physically active without any complications.  I am able to stay up late without needing
to take naps during the day, and my stress has greatly minimized.  I feel like a completely different person.

I couldn’t be happier with my progress and the way he was able to treat me.  Not to mention, it was comforting to know that I wasn’t the only one with these problems.
I got the chance to meet other patients that had similar problems and the same success.

It was scary to know that at only nineteen years old, I was sicker than I could ever imagine.  I do not know what would have happened to me if I had never met Dr. Osborne, and thanks to him I will never find out. Anyone who would like to improve their health should
truly confide in him and his practice.  I have never met someone so knowledgeable and dedicated as Dr. Osborne.  I owe my good health to him.  My only complaint is that I didn’t find him sooner.

Yeah – I’m glad to find you on facebook!  I want to tell you, from the bottom of my heart, thanks!  It’s been a year since I’ve been GF and I feel amazing. I’ve lost almost 20 pounds and that’s been such a bonus!

If it weren’t for you, I’d still be suffering.  Thanks so much for everything!  (Oh, I gave up sugar and soft drinks upon your suggestions and that’s been an amazing path too!)

Jennifer

You have helped me and every single member of my family so much that I have only gratitude to extend to you. You provide a truly unique and life changing approach and body of knowledge to health care.  I will gladly continue to refer patients to you.  Thank you and
God bless,

I can’t begin to tell all the benefits that I have received in the nearly three months that I have been going to see Dr. Osborne.  After going on a gluten free diet and getting chiropractic adjustments, my numbness and tingling in my hands has disappeared, enabling me to sleep through the night for the first time in 6 1/2 years.

I also have regained strength in my hands – something that I had been told by other doctors would never happen.  Additionally, I have lost 35 CB106688pounds and have much more energy than I have had in years.

Since I was a child, I have had headaches, but after going on the gluten-free diet, I don’t have any unless I eat something I shouldn’t.  To my surprise, my fingernails are beginning to get strong after being weak and brittle my whole life.

I was told by other doctors that once I started thyroid medication, I would be on it for the rest of my life.  In the past month, I have decreased the dosage and I am looking forward to the day when I can discontinue it altogether.

I think one of the greatest things for me has been the freedom from food – freedom to not ever crave the foods that I shouldn’t eat and to not be in bondage to food.  There is so much joy in that.

My family has also seen improvement since they have been coming to see Dr. Osborne and making diet modifications.  My five-year old had itchy bumps on his elbows for the last couple years.  They have completely disappeared in the last month.  He is also more alert and attentive when doing schoolwork.

My four-year old also had little bumps that covered most of his body. Sometimes he would lie awake at night itching and clawing at his skin.  In the last month, the bumps have
almost all disappeared and have not itched at all.  He also sleeps better.  Through the elimination of several foods, he has become calm and sweet again.

It is exciting to see the improvements in my family, and I am looking forward to what else may improve over time.  I am so grateful that I have found a doctor that knows what he is talking about and that genuinely cares for my family, not to mention his patience in answering all my many questions.  His staff is just as wonderful, very helpful, and friendly.

Through the advice and encouragement I have received at Town Center Wellness, I am inspired to live my life in a more healthy manner and to raise my children likewise.

Dear Dr. Osborne,

Little did I know that a numb pinky and a sore elbow would turn out to be the best thing to me in a long time!  I came to your office one month ago for a second opinion.   I was diagnosed with ulnar neuropathy by an orthopedic surgeon a few days before.  My numb pinky turned out to be just the tip of the iceberg.  During the initial examination, you immediately suspected that gluten sensitivity and nutritional deficiencies were underlying causes of many of my ailments and suggested that I begin a gluten, dairy, and soy free diet.

You also recommended Chiropractic adjustments for the ulnar neuropathy and problem in my neck that the X-rays uncovered.  Never has any other health practitioner that I have seen taken the time to put all the pieces of the puzzle together.  The blood and genetic tests you ordered proved that your initial impression was indeed correct.  I wouldn’t be against your instincts.

bridge_hugWithin just a few days on the gluten free diet, I started feeling much better.  I no longer wake up aching and stiff and feeling like I was run over by a truck.  The Achilles Tendonitis and Plantar Facitis I battles for nearly a year disappeared.  I can now run up and down the stairs and take long walks with no pain whatsoever.

Rashes and digestive problems I have had since childhood quickly vanished.  Apparently, the snoring (that I swore I did not do) stopped as well.  My husband thanks you for that!  My energy level is amazing.  In spite of trying every conceivable diet I could not shed those extra pounds.  Now, the weight is coming off quickly and I do not feel hungry or deprived.

And, you deserve an award for getting me to exercise.  The chiropractic adjustments have allowed me to fully turn my head for the first time in 14 years.  My excruciating elbow pain is gone and my numb pinky is much improved.

I appreciate the time you spent going over the tests results.  You not only explained the results, but also the ramifications to my health, and your specific recommendation in great detail, with compassion, and in a manner that was easy to comprehend.

The customizes “Lifestyle Rx” is an invaluable resource that I refer to often.  I am also thankful that I had the genetic tests done because now I know that my children will be able to avoid many health problems down that road since there is a 100% chance that they inherited a gene for gluten sensitivity.  That you take so much time to personally educate your patients speaks volumes.  You truly are dedicated to improving the lives of your patients.

I would be remiss if I didn’t complement your office staff as well.  Diana, Ashley, and Regina have always been most kind and they are always pleasant.  The first impression a patient gets when walking into your office is a good one.  I have disliked doctors since childhood and dreaded going to the doctor.

At first the thought of coming in three times a week unnerved me, but I quickly learned that each visit is a pleasant experience and I always leave feeling better than I arrived.

I cannot possibly thank you enough for all that you have done to improve my health.  I was in constant pain for over twenty years.  You gave me my life back and for that I will always be grateful.
D. James – Sugar Land, TX

Dear Dr. Osborne,

Where do I begin to say thanks?  I am finally sleeping through the night after 6 and 1/2 years of continually waking up due to carpel tunnel in my hands.  After being told from a hand specialist that surgery was the only option, I was amazed at how easily you diagnosed and corrected the problem.

CB103572After just two sessions, I awoke the next morning with tears of joy in my eyes: having
realized that I could sleep through the night again. I came in with one problem, but you pointed out to me other areas of concern.

It is refreshing to see a doctor that treats the whole person, the way God intended. Thank you for taking the time whenever I come in to answer my questions and to explain things. Thank you for being so knowledgeable about the human body and all its complexities.  And thank you and your staff for being so kind and caring to your patients.

I now feel there is hope for a healthy future, and a place where my family and I can get questions answered.

“Dear Dr. Osborne:
I don’t know if it’s “all in my head” but I really am already feeling better. Last night I stayed up past 10 PM working on my …  that I have been trying to finish forever; today
I came home and cleaned my house after working all day at the kitchen.  I want to thank you and your office for helping me out.

I am very excited to see how I will be feeling in a week or so. I am going back to the gym
tomorrow.  I had come down with a cold Sat. morning and it’s already gone. I know it hasn’t been very long since I started these vitamins but I have very high hopes.”

Dear Dr. Osborne,

In the summer of 2002, I developed a strange malady which severely limited my day-to-day activities.  Nearly a year later, I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis.  Simple tasks like taking laundry up stairs, or going on a walk with my children became impossible due to joint pain and swelling.  As the disease progressed, daily tasks of dressing myself, maintaining my home and preparing meals became nearly impossible.

Traditional medicine found me progressing through a series of oral medications to control swelling and joint pain.  I moved rapidly from over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs to powerful NAISDs.  Each medication brought brief respite to the effects of reactive arthritis, then my immune system would negate the medication and the swelling and joint pain would return.

Side effects from these powerful drugs caused me to take even more medication to protect my stomach from the ingestion of these meds.  At one point in time, I was taking 17 pills two times a day in the effort to keep the disease under control.  Hope of returning to a normal and active lifestyle dwindled as I found myself more and more confined to home and less able to enjoy family activities such as camping and hiking.

As a last resort I was started on a medication, Etanercept which is given by injection two times a week.  While at first this medicine seemed to be a godsend as it successfully controlled joint pain and swelling with no apparent side effects however, it is a very expensive medication costing over $12K a year.  After nearly two years on Etanercept, I
began to experience joint pain and swelling, so another oral anti-inflammatory was added.

I feared my immune system was becoming accustomed to this medication as well.

During an office visit to Town Center Wellness, you counseled me to be checked for gluten sensitivity and you shared information regarding the possible side effects of gluten in diet.  I adopted a gluten-free lifestyle and oh what a difference it has made in my life!  Words like miraculous, phenomenal, and unbelievable come to mind.

Since going gluten free in March of 2007, I have not had an episode of joint pain or swelling.  I am once again enjoying an active lifestyle that I had not been able to take part in for nearly five years!  I feel better at 55 yr than I did in my late 40’s.

Best of all I am able to take part in my kids lives once again and sustain my involvement.  No, I do not think “miraculous” is too strong a word.  I have my life back, and I feel whole again.  My mind, body, and spirit are back in synch and life is continuing as it is meant to be. But for your counsel and your study of nutrition, I would not have been given this opportunity to be well again. I simply cannot thank you enough!

I no longer have to take over the counter nor prescription anti-inflammatory medication. The best news is that I am now only taking one injection a week instead of the two normally prescribed.  My primary care doctor has agreed that when I have been living gluten free for one year, I can stop the last injection.  I am looking forwarded to this day with great anticipation.

Every cloud with a silver lining has some rain with it, and this journey to wellness has been no different.  As I made this journey from poor health to great health, I was sadden to learn that the insurance industry would rather pay the high cost of maintaining the traditional medical approach to disease management and not pay the lesser costs
associated with nutrition counseling.

It’s a sad catch 22 to be caught within. Patients are forced to choose between continuing traditional medical treatments which costs are covered between 80% to 90% of the doctor’s fee schedule, or patients must choose to pay 100% of the costs of nutritional counseling out of pocket. It’s a hard choice to have to make.

But there is a light on the horizon. More and more men and women I meet are complaining of health issues much like my own and many more have recently been diagnosed with gluten sensitivity issues. I believe that people in our country are experiencing a health crisis of an epidemic proportion brought about by the last 50 years of poor nutrition choices.

Lifestyles driven to partake in fast food eating, Easy to make processed foods and massed produced nutrient- deprived fresh foods have produced a generation of people who have health problems that many don’t even no about yet.

It is my hope that on the wave of this health crisis, the insurance industry will figure out it is less expensive in the long run to let doctors teach people to eat good foods and to supplement as needed than to pay for the individuals  upkeep once a problem manifests itself.

I have petitioned my company to consider negotiating terms which pay for the proactive approach to nutrition counseling rather than to only pay for the “after-the-fact” approach of covering medical costs once disease has taken hold. This is not a new concept to insurance companies; they already pay all costs associated for annual well woman check up. Why should nutrition counseling be any different?

So close again in telling you “thank you“for being an advocate for better patient health by being informed about nutrition.  This patient is mighty grateful that you do.

Sincerely,
D. White – Sugar Land, TX
