Stretching your muscles on a regular basis is crucial for maintaining good health. The old adage – “use it or lose it” applies here. Keeping your muscles active improves oxygen, blood flow, nutrient flow, and immune system function.
Additionally, it allows you to continue to stay active with less risk for injury. Many of the people I see become patients at our clinic because they work desk jobs and have very little physical activity. When they attempt to play during the weekend, they become injured (weekend warrior phenomena) because their joints and muscles are atrophied (shrunken due to lack of use).

Treatment of these injured individuals improves joint function, increases muscle strength and tone, and improves flexibility temporarily. The problems set in again when a patient becomes inactive once treatment ends.
